Rarotonga Railway The only train in Cook Islands, the Rarotonga Railway takes you on a scenic journey around the island's coastline. You'll pass through lush forests, past stunning beaches, and get a glimpse of local life in the villages you pass through. Year-round, but the best time to visit is during the dry season (May-October) when the weather is cooler and less humid. Affordable. Tickets cost around $20 NZD for adults and $10 NZD for children.
Te Ara o te Rerenga Trail Not technically a train journey, but this walking trail follows the route of the old railway line that used to run from Avarua to Arorangi. Along the way, you'll see historic sites, stunning views, and learn about the island's history and culture. Year-round, but the best time to visit is during the dry season (May-October) when the weather is cooler and less humid. Free. The trail is open to the public and there is no cost to walk it.
